Tårtor på Vatten is the large original from the Dammen (The Pond) series — Series I of the Studio Grön collection. Inspired by the water at Hagudden, the Swedish headland where Linda-Victoria learned to paint under her grandfather, the painter Ove Eckerud, this work places the prinsesstårta in the meditative language of the lily pond. Eleven cakes, eleven roses, eleven sets of ripple rings spreading outward across the surface.
The water is built in layers: aquarelle wash over a Grabie shimmer ground, giving the surface a quality of light that shifts with the hour. The powdered sugar on each dome catches the same shimmer. The roses at each crown are tiny and precise and red.
Medium: Aquarelle and Winsor & Newton watercolour with Prismacolor pencil on Fabriano Artistico 300gsm hot press paper. Grabie shimmer ground.
